What is a lunar eclipse?
A lunar eclipse is one the most amazing and spectacular sights the night sky has to offer. Moon slides into Earth’s shadow. Usually, a pale white moon is painted a deep shade of red color and it may stay that way for a long time.
Lunar eclipses may occur either partial or total. These will only happen during one phase of the moon – the full moon.
Unlike a solar eclipse (where moon falls between the Earth and sun) – Lunar eclipses happen when the moon passes directly behind the Earth and into the Earth’s shadow – Dhara Patel, a space expert at the UK’s National Space Center in Leicester, Reported.
It clearly shows that they always happen at full moon only. A full moon occurs if the moon is on the opposite side of Earth to the sun.

What is an Eclipse?
There are a total of two types of eclipses that we witness on the Earth are solar eclipses and lunar eclipses.
A solar eclipse – Occurs when the Moon passes directly in front of the Sun. It may happen partially or entirely blocking out the light. Solar eclipses are visible in certain areas only and it requires eye protection to view safely.
A lunar eclipse – Occurs when the full-Moon enters the shadow of the Earth, which cuts-off all or part of the sunlight reflected off the Moon.
Lunar eclipses are visible technically from the entire night side of the Earth. However, during a penumbral eclipse, the dimming factor of the Moon’s illumination is slight.
Remember, not all eclipses are the same. However, There are some different ways for lunar and solar eclipses to happen.
